Field Technician
Sequoia Environmental Remediation Inc. is looking for qualified individuals to fill field technician positions. Sequoia is an environmental contracting company located out of Calgary AB that works directly with major oil and gas firms, environmental consultants, landfill sites, and more. Specializing in in-situ remediation technologies, Sequoia designs, manufactures, installs, and maintains environmental remediation equipment across Western Canada. Sequoia is also a leading contractor for the application of in-situ bioremediation and chemical oxidation amendments.
As a field technician for Sequoia you would primarily be working at field sites, responsible for the operations and maintenance of environmental equipment, installation of equipment, and application of amendments. Expected work hours are typically 8-12 hours per day, 5 days per week, with hotel stays (provided) several nights per week. Sequoia is seeking a motivated individual, with good problem solving skills, a mechanical aptitude, and ability to work alone.
Main Job Responsibilities:
- Travel throughout Western Canada, typical 3-5 days per week Monday
to Friday - Mechanical maintenance and operations of environmental machinery
- Installation of equipment
- Basic piping, including assembly of PVC and HDPE pipe
- Oversight of sub-contractors
- Participation with Health and Safety programs and procedures
- Working around excavation equipment
- Interfacing with clients on-site
- Conducting insitu amendment application programs
- Job specific documentation
Assets and Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills are required
- Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract are required
- Familiarity with towing trailers (pickup trucks and flat deck or cargo trailers) is an asset
- Previous experience in the oil and gas or environmental fields are an asset

Field Electrician
Journeyman field electrician position involving work both individually and with crews on project sites located primarily within Alberta. We also have project sites throughout western Canada, in Ontario, and occasionally in northern Canada. Our typical project sites are active and former gas stations, upstream oil and gas facilities, bulk fuel terminals, pipeline locations, landfills, railway yards and various industrial facilities.
The position of field electrician provides support to our staff of experienced field personnel on duties requiring electrical repairs, upgrades, connection/disconnection of equipment, trouble-shooting electrical control systems, wiring equipment, occasional shop fabrication work on our systems that range from small single motor pumps and blowers up fully integrated soil and groundwater remediation systems contained in skid buildings. Additional duties are operation and maintenance of soil and groundwater remediation systems, operation and maintenance of portable extraction/injection systems during pilot tests and field trials, occasionally assisting clients with data collection, construction of site works including system installations and trenching/piping/electrical projects. Individuals must be mechanically inclined and have a clean driving record. The health and safety of our employees and contractors is extremely important on all of our project sites, therefore the individual must have an approach to work that emphasizes completing the work safely. Any additional experience in construction, equipment operation, PLC/HMI controls, welding, mechanical, small equipment operation all are assets. A clean driving abstract is essential.
Additional duties may include related electrical design, equipment manufacture and assembly at our Calgary office/shop, office tasks, inventory maintenance, and other jobs.
The position is Calgary based with site work in locations ranging throughout western Canada, some in Ontario, however, principally in Alberta cities and towns such as Edmonton, Edson, Hardisty, etc.
Wages commensurate with applicable experience.
